It is hard to believe it has been 20 years since I first saw the majestic Mount Shasta. Back then, I did not know what Mount Shasta would come to symbolize for me. But in 2018, climbing Mount Shasta became my way of giving back to an organization, a community, and a dream.
This year we are honored to welcome 22 volunteer climbers from across the country. They will attempt to climb Mt. Shasta (14,179 ft) to challenge the 1 in 8 odds of a woman’s breast cancer diagnosis. Many climb in honor of their breast cancer diagnosis or a loved one, carrying prayer flags inscribed with names up the mountain. They all climb for prevention so that no one should have to hear the words “You have breast cancer.”

Knowing that I will not always be able to make choices for them, I want to normalize clean living and show them how to make informed decisions as consumers.
