Non-Toxic Black Beauty Project

BCPP’s Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is tackling racialized beauty standards and related health risks through the Non-Toxic Black Beauty Project. This initiative highlights the disproportionate exposure to toxic chemicals in beauty products marketed and sold to Black women, promoting safer alternatives, and advocating for systemic change to achieve racial and environmental justice in the beauty industry. This project produced a first-of-its-kind verified safer database of products made by Black-owned businesses. Also, our train-the-trainer programs have equipped community leaders with knowledge about toxic beauty products and the systems change we need to make safer options available to everyone.

“At BCPP, we believe everyone deserves access to non-toxic products and protection from hazardous chemicals, no matter where they live, work, or shop.”

– Janet Nudelman, BCPP Sr. Director of Program & Policy, Director of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics
