BCPP has been closely monitoring COVID-19 and the precautionary measures needed to keep our staff and our community safe. While we were excited to join together as a community at our May Gala and share our vision for 2020 and beyond, we have decided to postpone this event.

New Federal Bill Will Be the First in the Nation to Ensure That Beauty and Personal Care Products Are Safe for All

Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) introduced a landmark bill today—the Safe Cosmetics and Personal Care Products Act of 2019—the only federal cosmetic safety legislation that would immediately ban more than a dozen of the worst toxic chemicals from cosmetics, fund research into safer alternatives, address the over-exposure of communities of color to toxic chemicals, require full fragrance ingredient disclosure, and ban most animal testing.

I am humbled and honored to assume the role of President and CEO of Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. As I begin my time, I come prepared and committed to sustaining what is already the leading national organization dedicated to breast cancer prevention. I’d like to thank the search committee, the BCPP Board of Directors, and the talented BCPP staff for welcoming me with open arms. I’m ready to get to work.

California Bill Seeks to End Toxic Fragrance and Flavor Secrets in Beauty and Personal Care Products

New legislation in California will be the first of its kind to require disclosure of fragrances and flavors in cosmetic products. Senator Connie Leyva (D-Chino) introduced a bill today that requires manufacturers to fully disclose hazardous ingredients in fragrances and flavors used in cosmetics and personal care products sold in California. Upon its passage, the California Toxic Fragrance Chemicals Right to Know Act of 2019 (SB574) will be the first such law to take effect in the nation.
