San Francisco, CA – Breast Cancer Prevention Partners today announced that Amanda Heier will serve as its new Chief Executive Officer. BCPP is the nation’s leading science-based, policy and advocacy organization dedicated to breast cancer prevention.

“This is truly a momentous time for BCPP. After a carefully conducted national search, I am proud to announce that Amanda Heier will serve as our next CEO,” said Ellen Kahn, Chair of the BCPP Board of Directors. “A vibrant public health leader, Amanda has extensive non-profit experience mobilizing diverse teams and implementing organizational growth for public health organizations. Not only will she help BCPP continue to provide important breast cancer prevention science, policy, and education for all, she will also be a powerful voice at the table moving us closer to our goal of stopping breast cancer before it starts.”

In 2018, former President and CEO, Jeanne Rizzo announced she would be retiring from BCPP after almost two decades of leadership. To find the next leader to helm the organization, a search committee was formed, made up of members from the BCPP Board of Directors, staff and a community representative.

“After considering a group of highly impressive candidates, the BCPP search committee and board unanimously selected Amanda Heier,” said Wanda Cole-Frieman, Chair of the Search Committee and current BCPP Board Member. “She is a passionate leader focused on strategic planning, enhancing programs that optimize our community impact, and building our direct fundraising opportunities. She possesses the skills, competencies, and heart needed to lead this respected organization to the next level of greatness!”

Amanda will be only the third person to hold the position of CEO since the founding of BCPP (formerly Breast Cancer Fund) in 1992.

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve alongside such an incredible team and compassionate community,” said new BCPP CEO Amanda Heier. “The trail blazing work of BCPP impacts countless lives, and greatly improves the health of our nation. I look forward to ushering in an era of deeper impact for breast cancer prevention and vast improvements to women’s health.”

Amanda received her degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Dedicating her entire career to helping health and human service nonprofits, Amanda has previously served as Executive Director for Raphael House and the Mary Elizabeth Inn and most recently as CEO of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation.

Amanda’s first day at BCPP will be May 8.
