The idea of embarking on an arduous climb was laughable. But the cause hit close to home, having witnessed the trials of three friends and family members currently in the breast cancer battle. Despite my reservations and lack of physical prowess, the pull to participate was strong. We NEVER pull up in front of a fully involved burning building and say, “Oh that looks toxic, I don’t think I’m going to fight this fire.” Not on your life! We ALWAYS choose to step into the burning building, we choose to locate, confine and extinguish the fire, while looking for and saving victims along our path. And sadly, we are learning that our actions are in fact taking our lives!
