Sugar consumption is associated with breast cancer and a new publication aims to describe the biological mechanism by which this happens. The gene BRCA2 helps suppress tumors and is inhibited by a fructose metabolite. This discovery provides evidence that sugar acts as a metabolic driver of cancer.
