A Guide to Cleaning Product Ingredients

A Guide to Cleaning Product Ingredient Disclosure_publication

Opening the Black Box

This guide aims to make it easier to understand what’s on a cleaning product ingredient label and what’s changing as a result of the California Cleaning Product Ingredient Right to Know Act of 2017 (CA SB 258).

While many green cleaning product companies, such as Seventh Generation, have fully disclosed their ingredients for decades, the California Cleaning Product Ingredient Right to Know Act of 2017 is the first law ever that legislatively requires companies to disclose the chemical ingredients in cleaning products. Now that we can make more informed choices about the products we bring into our homes, we can choose products free from hazardous chemicals, which will move the entire market toward safer cleaning products, protecting our health, the environment, and future generations.
